The first reading talks about the important role of wisdom in the creation of the world and the “delight” wisdom found in humanity.

Scripture scholars have called this section of John’s gospel one of the clearest New Testament passages about God as Trinity in unity. If that’s true, it only goes to show how oblique the other passages are.

I still have many things to tell you, but you can’t handle them now. But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is.

“I found delight in the human race.” When looking at the readings for this weekend, it’s tempting to play “find the Trinity,” but seriously, connecting the dots between the Persons—God the Father, the Son, and Wisdom/the Spirit—does point to the interconnections between these different faces of God.
