Seek, know, and find Christ. He is your life-path now and forever.

What good is the church? This isn't a pious-sounding question, I admit. But if we don't ever ask ourselves why we need the church, then we may never arrive at a serviceable answer.

When Jesus arrived in the villages of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “What are people saying about who the Son of Man is?”

IN THE EARLY DAYS of civil rights legislation taking hold in the American South, an African American woman, Norah Jones, boarded a crowded bus, paid her fare, and found that the only free seat was next to a well-dressed white woman about her own age. That woman stiffened a bit with an insincere smile as she sat down but showed no other reaction.

Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

God’s faithfulness, the psalm says, is the invitation to faith. Inscrutable though the idea may be, faith comes from God.

We cannot control the changes and dangers in the world, but we can choose where we build and on what foundation.
