The joy of Easter extends through May. Half the month is blessed with saints’ days, including two U.S. notables: recently beatified Teresa Demjanovich (8) and Damien de Veuster (10). 

As a preacher, you, like Paul and the other apostles, can bring people to faith.

So let's talk frankly about the vocation crisis. We all know why we're having this problem, though public rhetoric imparts the blame to this group or that one.

I read recently that it takes a flock of sheep a long time to accept a new shepherd. Without that bond, sheep instinctively run the other way or form a frightened huddle.

A friend was talking about a time she was sorely tempted toward revenge. A person at work had hurt her and now it was in her power to turn the tables.

As our Easter celebration of new life continues, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

A shepherd who is not meek is not a good shepherd. He has something hidden, because meekness shows him as he is ... furthermore, the shepherd is tender ... knows the sheep one by one by name and takes care of each one as if it were the only one.
