This month concludes our Lenten observance, contains the high holy days of the Triduum (28-30), and ushers us to Easter Sunday (31). We'll perform scrutinies for our Elect (3, 10, 17) and welcome them into the church in sacraments of Initiation.

We are given laws by one whose authority we accept in faith.  

In Torah commentaries rabbis always point out the unequal proportions of the Decalogue. The first four Commandments (concerning our obligations to God) take up 10 extended verses, while the ensuing six (about mortal relationships) occupy a half dozen clipped lines.

It was my first week in my first parish assignment. I got a call from a gentleman that his mother was dying and would I come and anoint her. Even confined to bed, she was a strong, imposing woman. She wanted to tell me her story. So, I listened. 

One day I was walking in downtown Chicago, passing sights so familiar to me that they hardly registered. My progress was interrupted by a group of tourists from a foreign country who had stopped in their tracks and stood pointing and staring at the front of a building across the street from us.

We know the ways of God. Let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

One has not only a legal, but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.
