Two of the readings today have dreams and visions of Christ’s enthronement.

The Bible, we declare, is the word of God: inspired and inerrant, eternal, holy, and true. But it’s also an ancient document dependent on the testimony of human beings, coming to us through centuries of oral tradition and manuscript transmission.

Baseball legend Yogi Berra, who died at the age of 90 after a long and storied career, was revered for his wisdom-filled malapropisms as much as his baseball prowess. Among his more memorable observations: “If you don’t know where you’re going, you might wind up someplace else.”

Jermaine was brought up in a devout Catholic family and went to Catholic schools all the way through high school. He knew that killing was wrong. He also knew that violence is not the way to peace.

Christ is our King, who judges us fairly and with love. Let us confess to him our faults.
