This month takes us through Lent to Holy Week. It’s also Women’s History Month, a good time to highlight Catholic Sisters Week (8-14), International Women’s Day, celebrating achievements of women in politics, culture, and society (8), and the Annunciation of Mary (25).

Is it possible that the same God who established the Ten Commandments would send his only begotten Son to disrupt the very temple that enshrined that law? If this is the foolishness of God, then it is wiser than human wisdom. Religion is one thing, but the love of God transcends even the practice of the faith.

I led a Bible study at my parish for several years. Each time we met, I tried to unpack at least one “Big Bible Word” to help the average Catholic get over the inadequacy we all feel about approaching this book. One week, the word was monotheism.

I used to love Let’s Make a Deal. It seemed that host Monty Hall could turn any situation into a deal. Got a comb in your pocket? He’d ask you to trade it for what’s behind the curtain. Got a bobby pin in your purse? You could turn that into a new washer and dryer if only Monty would call on you.

We know the ways of God. We ask forgiveness for when we do not follow them.

Jesus knows your weakness. He wants only your love, wants only the chance to love you.
