SUNDAY SUMMARY

Isaiah 49:3, 5-6  Before his birth, the servant of the Lord is known and chosen for his task.

Psalm 40:2, 4, 7-8, 8-9, 10 (8a, 9a)  To do God’s will is the joy of those who wait for the divine summons.

1 Corinthians 1:1-3  Paul recognizes all who call upon Jesus as part of a holy, universal church.

John 1:29-34  The Baptist sees Jesus coming and recognizes him at once as the awaited one.

Take care with Obamacare repeal and replace

After having “waited, waited for the Lord,” the psalmist is able to affirm that the Lord’s “law is within my heart!” The American people have been waiting to see how Republican lawmakers plan to handle the Affordable Care Act (ACA) now that they control all the levers of government. And it seems an overwhelming majority of the public disapprove of any plan to repeal Obamacare without having a ready replacement at hand, according to a poll released last week
