Penitential Act Invitation In a spirit of repentance for our sins, we place ourselves in the hands of our merciful God. Invocations For when we have given in to selfishness. Lord, have mercy. For when we have shown jealousy. Christ, have mercy. For when we unfairly put ourselves ahead of others. Lord, have mercy. Prayer of the Faithful The universal prayer God cares for God’s people. Trusting in that care, we make our prayers to the Lord. May selfishness, ambition, and jealousy find no place in the church, but rather may God find us peaceful, gentle, merciful, and good, we pray, Lord, hear our prayer. May the leaders of the world renounce violence and war in the settling of conflicts, we pray, Lord, hear our prayer. May children and other vulnerable persons have the security and protection they need to live fully, we pray, Lord, hear our prayer. May the members of this assembly seek the path of humble service to God and others, we pray, Lord, hear our prayer. In this Year of Consecrated Life, we ask the people of our parish and the universal church to support and celebrate the dedicated service provided by those in consecrated life. God our Lord, upholder of life, your Son was handed over to death, but on the third day rose again. May our prayers rise to you so that we find eternal joy. We ask through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Penitential Act Invitation We turn to you, Lord, who gathers and guides us in your wisdom. Invocations You give hope to those who despair. Lord, have mercy. You bring wholeness to those who suffer from brokenness. Christ, have mercy. You offer us the responsibility to live and share your gospel. Lord, have mercy. Prayer of the Faithful The universal prayer God has given us freedom in Christ. Let us pray for the wisdom and judgment to use that freedom responsibly and for the glory of God. God our Lord, you call each of us to a vocation. Help us to recognize our calling and live it with generosity and humility. Lord, hear our prayer. Jesus our Lord, your power overcomes all evil and sin. We ask for the gift of your healing. Lord, hear our prayer. God our Lord, you lift up the lowly. Let us not forget the suffering of others. Lord, hear our prayer. In this Year of Consecrated Life, may the men and women in consecrated life know of our gratitude for their dedicated service to God and the church. Merciful God, may we have a share in making known the salvation you desire for the world. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

The universal prayer God upholds our lives. Let us call upon our God who sustains us to hear these prayers we make in the name of the human family. For those made vulnerable by powerlessness, poverty, and prejudice, may we defend all the little ones of the world who need our protection and help, we pray: Lord, hear our prayer. For the times we experience conflict in ourselves and with others, may a spirit of peace and mercy help us to resolve our differences, we pray: Lord, hear our prayer. For those who experience persecution for who they are or what they believe, may they endure their time of testing confident of God’s care, we pray: Lord, hear our prayer. For catechists, parents, grandparents, teachers, church ministers, and for the young people they guide, may they grow in knowledge, faith, and generosity, we pray: Lord, hear our prayer. God of justice, when we receive your Son into our lives, we receive you. Hear our prayers, as we offer a sacrifice of praise to your goodness. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

The universal prayer As those changed because we have met the Lord, let us pray in confidence to our just and merciful God: Lord Jesus, as you brought salvation to the world, may your divine generosity move those in power to bring liberation to those who suffer in slavery and despair, we pray, Lord, hear our prayer. Lord Jesus, as you healed those who encountered you, may we be instruments to bring healing to the poor, the sick, and the brokenhearted, we pray, Lord, hear our prayer. Lord Jesus, as you compelled your apostle Paul to preach the gospel, empower us to give our lives in the service of love to you and to our sisters and brothers, we pray, Lord, hear our prayer. Lord Jesus, as you went off to a lonely place to pray, lead us to find in prayer a deeper communion with you, we pray, Lord, hear our prayer. Lord God, although your ways are beyond our ways, we trust in your compassion. Receive the prayers we make today, in faith and hope, to you glory and praise, now and forever.
