You have no doubt had your Moses moments, when, exhausted, you persevered in your leadership. Think now of how you could have more Aaron moments where you assist others in fulfilling their duties.

The readings this week encourage persistence: in prayer, in proclaiming the Word of God, and in fidelity to that Word.

We call scripture the “Word of God.” That’s a grand claim. If God said it, or wrote it, such an idea carries a great deal more currency than if you or I take the credit for it.

The Second Letter of Timothy emphasizes how those who work for God need to be "competent, equipped for every good work."

Men often feel shame about needing, let alone accepting, help from another man. But after they let down their guard, the image of one man leaning on another for support becomes an emblem of pride.

It takes perseverance and all the energy and strength we have. But it is worth it, so we persist.

God is our help. We turn to God for help in overcoming our sins.

The law of Moses sought to protect vulnerable members of society, but people have always found a way to exploit them.

It is no small matter to forsake the ancient tradition of the church that was upheld by all those who were called before us, whose conduct we should observe, and whose faith we should imitate.
