From good deeds and other acts of "light" come healing, peace, and glory.

Isaiah says that if we feed the hungry and shelter the oppressed, our light shall break forth like the dawn and our wounds will be healed.

Loving and purposeful families grow together and yield abundant dividends in loyalty, mutual encouragement, and assured welfare. Careless, neglectful, or abusive families reap sorrow and hostility that winds through the years and spreads the malignancy further.

Jesus encourages us to become a presence in the lives of others through our good deeds.

Jesus knows that life is like a stew that needs flavoring. He says we should be like the salt that brings out the taste in the meal.

Peace is a wonderful gift to give and receive.

We proclaim our faith by our actions. Isaiah the prophet makes it very clear what we are called to do. And then Paul tells us it is not easy. Usually confident Paul writes about being afraid and trembling.

When Jesus tells us to let our light shine before the world, for most of us, the light grows over time. Regular prayer and sacraments increase the light.

God asks us to show our faith through our actions. We pray for God's wisdom to meet that challenge.

Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

The one who does a pure and whole work from God merits a whole kingdom.
