What can be the consequences of the prophetic calling to speak the truth? How do prophets have to accept the consequences of their truth-speaking?

Jesus' message today is a radical departure from and critique of the status quo in civic life, politics, sports, and culture.

Jesus lays out the invitation—no, the obligation—to confront each other with wrongdoing in the spirit of benevolent correction. Most of us prefer to decline, because it’s an icky business.

Forgiving and reconciling are good for the one who errs, the community, and for the forgiver--literally.

Two or more working together toward reconciliation discourages obstinate, isolating behavior that leaves no room for anyone, not even God. Join the crowd today.

The forces of love and faith that come together are greater than any wickedness that may be around us. We should find this both comforting and challenging.

Moments where two or more are gathered.

Our God is always ready to forgive us. Let us turn to God for that forgiveness.

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them. 

We must be saved together. We must reach God together. We must present ourselves to him together. We must not expect to find God without the help of others. We must all come back together into our father's house. . . . We must work a little for others. What would he say to us if we arrived separately?
