Remembering the man who never forgot the Holocaust

This Sunday the psalmist confidently predicts that those who turn to the Lord “will live,” even if “afflicted and in pain” or “in bonds.” As a Holocaust survivor, Elie Wiesel lived through affliction, pain, and being in bondage. When he died Saturday at the age of 87, tributes poured in from around the world for the prolific writer and Nobel laureate.

Fact of the week

It is estimated that 11 million people were killed during the Holocaust. Six million of them were Jews. The Nazis also targeted gay people, Jehovah's Witnesses, the disabled, and Romani people (“gypsies”).
