Prayer of the Faithful The universal prayer Sisters and brothers, we have become children of God, and we ask our loving God to listen to our prayers. For leaders everywhere, that they may serve with selflessness and devotion to those they lead. Lord, hear our prayer. For the followers of Jesus, that we may always grow more like him. Lord, hear our prayer. For the church, that it may be a living witness to salvation in Christ Jesus. Lord, hear our prayer. In this Year of Consecrated Life, may the universal church continue to support and celebrate the good work and joyful witness of the men and women in consecrated life. Prayer of the Faithful The universal prayer The divine Shepherd knows us. We hear his voice and we follow him. He protects us from all evil and opens a way for us that we might come to fulfillment. Let us pray that we always have the courage to follow the shepherd. For our church, that we see among us the great multitude from every race, nation, and tongue who worship God with us in unity and peace, we pray to the Lord. For all immigrants who come to our country seeking better lives for themselves and their families, that we welcome them and provide for them from our abundance, and that we work to protect them from unjust immigration laws, we pray to the Lord. For our parish of (N.), that the Word of God guide us, that the Father protect us, and that we always follow the voice of the Shepherd in hope and trust, we pray to the Lord. For our nation, that we use our great wealth to help poorer countries, our great power to make friends of our enemies, and our great influence to lead the world in peace, we pray to the Lord. Father, we give you thanks for sending your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Through his death and resurrection we have been rescued from sin and death. Help us to follow him in the ways of your kingdom, where Christ is Lord for ever and ever. Amen.

Penitential Act Invitation The Lord is our shepherd. We turn to him for forgiveness. Invocations Let us open ourselves to the Lord's protection and guidance. Lord, have mercy. The Lord gave his life for us. Christ, have mercy. Lord, grant us the gift of repentance. Lord, have mercy. Prayer of the Faithful The universal prayer As a community of faith, we listen for God's voice and strive to follow it. May God hear the voices we now raise in prayer. That the community of Christ's followers may follow him in seeking repentance and forgiveness, we pray to the Lord. That Christians may patiently accept suffering for what is good and not return insult for insult, injury for injury, in imitation of our Lord Jesus, we pray to the Lord. That leaders everywhere may guide their people with humility, wisdom, courage, and example, we pray to the Lord. That on the this World Day of Prayer for Vocations, that all Christians may discern and live out their vocations, and that men and women may be open to the call to life in the service of God and the church, we pray to the Lord. God our shepherd, you promise your people the gift of your Spirit. May your Spirit hear and receive these prayers we make to you, in the name of your risen Son, Jesus the Christ.
