Philippians presents Christ’s self-emptying as a model for disciples—”Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus.”
Raising up. It happens to both the dry bones in Ezekiel and Jesus’ friend Lazarus.
The gospel this week seems to ask, “Who is the real sinner?” The man born blind from birth? Jesus who heals on the sabbath? Or those who fail to see the Light of the World?
Have you been in a situation where you felt constrained by established customs or prejudices that seemed unnecessary or unjust to you? How did you react?
Has anyone been “transfigured” before your eyes—that is, has someone done or said something that in a flash changed the way you viewed them?
Which of the temptations Jesus faced speaks most directly to you at this point in your life?
Be holy is the simple message of today's readings.
In today's psalm we sing, "Blessed are they who follow the law of the Lord."
From good deeds and other acts of "light" come healing, peace, and glory.
