In a dream, God tells Solomon to "ask for something" and God promises to give it to him. If God made that offer to you in a dream, what would you ask for?

Do we love the way of God, or simply tolerate it? This is a question I ask myself every time I read Psalm 119. It’s the Law Psalm, delineating in acrostic fashion all the reasons why the commands of God are worthy and desirable. Each acrostic spells out a Hebrew word for Torah, including: word, law, commandment, rules, decree, precepts, and teaching.

“God’s kingdom is like a treasure hidden in a field for years and then accidentally found by a trespasser. The finder is ecstatic—what a find!—and proceeds to sell everything he owns to raise money and buy that field.

A young boy was out with his grandma one day at a shopping center. They walked past a toy store and the boy saw a toy detective set in the window. It had a little gun and a holster and little plastic handcuffs and a magnifying glass—everything you need to be a young detective.

We know that all things work for good for those who love God, scripture tells us today. We ask for the gift of that love so that all things in our lives will work together for the good.

The works performed by God in the history of salvation show forth and bear out the doctrine and realities signified by the words; the words, for their part, proclaim the works, and bring to light the mystery they contain.
